There is no shortage of #BurtAward activities taking place in the Caribbean this spring. Below is a listing of what to expect in the weeks and months ahead.
CODE has completed the distribution of 7,500 Burt Award winning books in 11 Caribbean countries. That’s 2,500 of each of the three 2015 winning titles distributed to schools, libraries and community centers.
Book Jam! – Queen’s College (secondary school), Georgetown, Guyana
In advance of the official launch of Imam Baksh’s 2015 1st place Burt Award winner Children of the Spider, the author will give a reading and Q&A at his former secondary school.
Imam Baksh Author Tour – Guyana
Sponsored by CODE and coordinated by the Guyana Book Foundation, the tour will take author Imam Baksh to schools in Georgetown, Essequibo and Mabaruma.
Burt Award for Caribbean Literature Ceremony – NGC Bocas Lit Fest, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago
At this invitation only event, the winners of CODE’s third annual Burt Award for Caribbean Literature will be announced and honored with a prize.

Burt Award Winners’ Showcase – NGC Bocas Lit Fest, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago
Three 2016 finalists will be reading from their works and participating in a panel discussion hosted by Alscess Lewis-Brown.

ALL WRITE NOW! - Bim Literary Festival, Barbados
2014 1st place winner A-dZiko Simba Gegele (All Over Again) and 2015 3rd place winner Lynn Joseph (Dancing in the Rain) will be leading writing workshops for young writers at the Bim Literary Festival in Barbados.
