Erick Livumbazi Ngoda describes his affinity to and strong liking for books as "a lifelong passioante love affair". He started reading at a very early age. Born and raised in Mbale, Vihiga County, Erick attended Kakamega High School and the Kenya School of Professional Studies (Inoorero University) where he pursued Library and Information Studies. He published his first book, Begwani the Beggar, in 1999 with Phoenix Publishers.
